Every month we hold a free orchid show; either near Preston, Manchester or Warrington.

New members are always welcome, but our normal monthly shows are free to all, come along and take a look at your local orchid society.

Come along and meet us in the Society Marquee, free helpful advice and orchid potting demonstrations; we can supply you with  top quality approved orchid compost.

Our monthly orchid shows are a must for anyone who wants to see a fantastic display of orchids, or just lovers of plants, with displays, sales tables from visiting orchid nurseries, friendly help and advice always available, all are welcome, and the shows are normally free to attend, unless otherwise stated show times are from 10.00am to 3.00pm, plants must be registered and ready for judging at 11.00am

Barton Village Hall. – From the M6 motorway take the M55 at junction 32, and immediately leave it at the next junction (junction 1) turning north onto the A6. Pass through Broughton Newsham, Barton, (look for the Barton Grange Hotel on the right) continue up the A6 and look for the Village Hall on the right shortly afterwards.   RETURN

From Preston: At the roundabout of the M6 J31and A59 go straight over under the motorway signed A59 to Blackburn. Stay in the left hand lane. Just before the traffic lights, take the FIRST exit signed “Brockholes Nature Reserve” heading north over the river (adjacent to the off-ramp slip road). Follow this road left, round doubling back and under the slip road bridge to the site entrance.

From M6 North Bound: As you come off the motorway get in the middle lane. At the roundabout turn right, signed A59 to Blackburn. Stay in the left hand lane. Just before the traffic lights, take the FIRST exit signed “Brockholes Nature Reserve” heading north over the river (adjacent to the off-ramp slip road). Follow this road left, round doubling back and under the slip road bridge to the site entrance.

From Samlesbury and South-bound off the M6: From Samlesbury - At the roundabout of the M6 J31and A59 you need to go all the way round the double roundabout as if you where going to head back along the A59 towards Samlesbury. As you come round the roundabout past the Tickle Trout Service Station stay in the left hand lane. Just before the traffic lights, take the FIRST exit signed “Brockholes Nature Reserve” heading north over the river (adjacent to the off-ramp slip road). Follow this road left, round doubling back and under the slip road bridge to the site entrance.

From M6 Southbound: As you come off the motorway turn right at the roundabout towards Preston. Stay in the right hand lane and continue around the roundabout, As you come round the roundabout past the Tickle Trout Service Station stay in the left hand lane. Just before the traffic lights, take the FIRST exit signed “Brockholes Nature Reserve” heading north over the river (adjacent to the off-ramp slip road). Follow this road left, round doubling back and under the slip road bridge to the site entrance.

Sorry no dogs allowed!   RETURN

Hoghton Village Hall is situated on the A675 which is best access from Junction Three of the M65

Coming from the M65 - Follow the signs for Hoghton Towers and it is situated on the left side of the road 2 minutes past the Hoghton Towers entrance.   RETURN

Rixton with Glazebrook Village Hall - Manchester Rd.,  HOLLINS GREEN Travelling along the A580 East Lancs Rd. at the Greyhound Roundabout Eccles Look for Greyhound Hotel  - take the exit towards Glazebury the A574 (Warrington Rd) travel past Bents Garden Centre and after a while you will come to a mini roundabout take the road on the left the B5212 Glazebrook Lane, you will pass over the motorway and through Glazebrook village, on approaching the traffic lights at the T junction with the A57, take the right turn just immediately before them into Manchester Rd. Hollins Green aprrox 150yds up you will see the Black Swan Public House on the Right, the Venue is directly across on the Left.    

From the M6 leave at J21 (signposted Warrington) and take the A57 exit towards Irlam. Continue to follow A57 in about 2 miles  At traffic signals turn left onto the B5212 (signposted Leigh A574) , and then take the immediate left into Manchester Rd. Hollins Green aprrox 150yds up you will see the Black Swan Public House on the Right, the Venue is directly across on the Left.

From the M62 M60 leave the M60 at junction 2 taking the A57 towards Irlam and Liverpool At Irlam Locks Circle roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A57 (signposted Warrington) A57 At Northbank Industrial Park Omega Cir roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Cadishead Way - A57 (signposted Warrington, Cadishead) Entering Cadishead At Cadishead Way Circle roundabout take the 1st exit onto Cadishead Way - A57 (signposted Warrington, Culcheth) At traffic signals turn right onto the B5212 (signposted Leigh A574) , and then take the immediate left into Manchester Rd. Hollins Green aprrox 150yds up you will see the Black Swan Public House on the Right, the Venue is directly across on the Left.

The junction is 5 minutes from the M6, and perhaps 10 minutes from the M60. (About 8 miles from either motorway)   RETURN

Large Annual Orchid Show

Each year our Annual Show brings one of the largest orchid events to the North of England, Held in the Tenants Hall at Tatton Park....

World's Oldest Orchid Society?

Established in 1897, we have been giving awards to orchids since the turn of the Century, this is an image of one of the early orchid paintings, from which our badge is derived....

Catesatum pilateum

There are over 35000 species of orchid, here is one of the more unusual from the tropics, often seen at our monthly shows....

Laelia purpurata

This showy species makes a change from the usual Phalaenopsis Orchids found in the supermarkets; many specialist growers attend our shows....

Anguloa

Another species of orchid prized by the enthusiastic grower, these plants can be quite large, and are very showy...

Ophrys - The Bee Orchid

At each of our monthly shows, you will see (at the right time of the year) some fine specimens of terrestrial orchids from the temperate zones....

Dendrobium thrysiflorum

For sheer flower power you cannot beat some of the orchid species which may carry over a thousand blooms....
